Land Survey Technician - LSIT Orleans or Sandwich, MA

Our Survey Division has an opening for a self-motivated Land Survey Technician to join our team. In this role, you will provide support to Professional Land Surveyors through coordination, scheduling, processing of field work, and reviewing draft plans, while providing oversight of land surveying field work. As a Land Survey Technician, your responsibilities will involve performing a variety of land surveying tasks associated with land surveying and engineering projects obtained by the company

Duties would include, but not limited, to the following:

  • Coordinate with Professional Land Surveyors to ensure that project scope and level of survey is achieved.
  • Perform research of public records and oversee tasks assigned to Field Survey Technicians.
  • Perform boundary calculations.
  • Schedule filed work and brief field crews on project requirements.
  • Use Leica robotic total stations, Leica manual total stations, Carlson data collectors, Leica RTK GPS receivers, hand tools, machines and other equipment for the purpose of performing appropriate field surveying work.
  • Perform office and field calculations.
  • Review field work to ensure it has been completed in accordance with required standards. Update Survey Division Manager and Professional Land Surveyors regarding schedule and requirements for additional survey.
  • Perform calculations, reduction and analysis of field data obtained by field crews.
  • Perform review of plans prepared by Survey Technicians and provide direction on necessary revisions.
  • Positively contribute to company culture and participate in ongoing learning and training opportunities.
  • Other duties as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of land surveying experience in the field and five years of office experience, or equivalent college course activity.
  • LSIT or NSPS Certified Survey Technician (CST) Level 4 preferred.
  • Ability to work well with others and enhance a positive, team-building environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Work is performed in an office and field environment. Field work requires, but is not limited to, lifting and carrying of equipment and supplies needed to execute various land surveying tasks performed by the company. Fieldwork is performed year-round, in all weather conditions, in all environments including (but not limited to) walking/working on steeply-sloping, uneven, densely vegetated ground with exposure to various wildlife, insects, and plants and in water. Position requires automobile, boat and plane travel with occasional overnight stays.
