Land Surveying Project Manager Orleans or Sandwich, MA

Our Survey Division has an opening for a self-motivated Land Surveying Project Manager to join our team. In this role, you will perform professional and technical surveying work consisting of topographic, boundary retracement, cadastral, construction layout, AKTA/NSPS Land Title, and existing conditions. Provide surveying consultations to clients, determine appropriate projects’ scope and budget and prepare and/or oversee preparation of projects’ deliverables. As a Land Surveying Project Manager, your responsibilities will involve performing a variety of in-office and field tasks associated with land surveying, civil engineering, and marine engineering projects obtained by the company

Duties would include, but not be limited, to the following:

  • Consult with clients and consultants
  • Prepare proposals and contracts
  • Provide oversight and direction to field crew(s)
  • Provide oversight and direction to surveying technicians
  • Work with and provide support to engineering project managers
  • Oversee survey aspects of civil and marine engineering projects
  • Oversee and/or direct preparation of various survey plans including but not limited to boundary retracement plans, subdivision plans, existing conditions, ALTA-NSPS Land Title plans, Land Court plans and certified plot plans
  • Provide expert testimony
  • Provide flood elevation certificates
  • Perform deed and plan research and review
  • Perform field work associated with land surveying, engineering, and construction projects
  • Perform survey computations and analysis
  • Present at local and state regulatory hearings
  • Positively contribute to company culture and participate in ongoing learning and training opportunities
  • Other duties as appropriate

Qualifications:

  • Massachusetts Registered Professional Land Surveyor with 7+ years of experience
  • Demonstrated project management and supervisory skills which include experience in proposal preparation and sales, client consultation, survey decisions, oversight, preparation and review of survey plans
  • Demonstrated experience with expert testimony and presentations to regulatory agencies
  • Ability to work well with others and enhance a positive, team-building environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Approximately 80% of work is performed in an office setting, approximately 10% in on-site client or regulatory agency meetings and approximately 10% in field work. Field work requires, but is not limited to, lifting and carrying of equipment and supplies needed to execute the various land surveying tasks performed by the company. Fieldwork is performed year-round, in all weather conditions, and includes walking/working on steeply-sloping, uneven, densely vegetated ground with exposure to various wildlife, insects, and plants and in water. Position requires automobile, boat and plane travel with occasional overnight stays.
