Waterfront/Marine Senior Project Manager Waltham, Sandwich, Orleans, MA or Smithfield, RI

Our Waterfront/Marine Engineering Division has an immediate opening for a Senior Project Manager for our growing division. In this role, you will serve as a Senior Marine Engineer responsible for providing project management, engineering, and environmental permitting for waterfront engineering projects including, but not limited to, marinas, marine terminals, piers, wharves, community waterfronts, recreational piers, harbors, and waterfront parks. As a Senior Project Manager, your responsibilities will involve performing a variety of in-office and field tasks associated with Waterfront/Marine engineering projects obtained by the company.

Duties would include, but not limited, to the following:

  • Design, manage, and contribute to field data analysis, environmental regulatory review, and engineering tasks.
  • Perform project management duties including client relations, scope evaluation, proposal writing, and project cost estimating.
  • Establish project budgets and monitor cost tracking of projects.
  • Conduct site investigations, prepare and edit technical reports and feasibility studies.
  • Review project results, documents, and field data collection programs to verify accuracy and completeness in content and approach.
  • Prepare feasibility studies and analysis for determining viable options for coastal engineering and shorefront protection projects.
  • Prepare engineering designs and oversee plan preparation for various projects.
  • Review environmental regulations and prepare project work plans.
  • Work with Permitting Specialist to prepare environmental review application, reports, notices, etc.
  • Attend and represent projects at public hearings.
  • Prepare construction bid documents, technical specifications, and perform construction contract administration.
  • Perform construction site observations and prepare field reports.
  • Assist with marketing strategies to expand company’s market position.
  • Report on status of projects, proposals, and marketing efforts to company management.
  • Positively contribute to company culture and participate in ongoing learning and training opportunities.
  • Other duties as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Structural, Geotechnical or Ocean Engineering Degree from an accredited program.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience.
  • Licensed registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts or ability to obtain such license within 12 months of date of hire.
  • In-depth knowledge of current Building Code(s) and the design of steel, timber, and reinforced concrete waterfront structures.
  • Experience with geotechnical engineering to assist in the design of soil/structure interaction elements (i.e., retaining walls, bulkheads, piles, etc.).
  • Experience in preparation of construction documents with attention to detail and ability to think critically.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to develop working relationships with staff, clients, and other professionals.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, Revit, Bluebeam, MathCAD, Tedds, or CEDAS.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Work Environment and Physical Demands: Hybrid option

  • Approximately 60% of work is performed in an office/remote office setting, approximately 30% in on-site client or regulatory agency meetings and approximately 10% in field, including occasional lifting and physical work associated with field inspections, data collection, and project monitoring in ocean/shorefront environments.
