As a result of adaptive reuse approach undertaken to an existing Barnstable Correctional Facility Gymnasium building, it was converted to new offices for the Barnstable County Health Department. The project required installing an additional floor within the existing building, as well as new roof, new framing, and new systems to accommodate the change in use. This is a good example of sustainable development, achieved by repurposing an existing structure and upgrading systems for energy conservation and functionality.
