Bay Street Boat Ramp And Parking Area Hero

Bay Street Boat Ramp And Parking Area

This project included engineering design and permitting services for the reconstruction of the existing Bay Street boat ramp and parking area at North Bay, Osterville. This project consisted of two distinct components. The first was the construction of a new cast-in-place concrete boat ramp utilizing a temporary steel sheet pile cofferdam to allow the ramp construction work to be performed in the dry. The second was construction of new stormwater runoff collection facilities in the road leading to the boat ramp, and the construction of an adjacent pervious concrete pavement parking area to reduce the amount of stormwater runoff previously flowing down the road and boat ramp directly into North Bay.

Coastal Engineering Company worked closely with the Barnstable Engineering Department in the preliminary and final design phases of the project to develop a cost effective project design that kept the cost of the project within the Town’s project construction budget. The project is presently under construction during the 2016/2017 winter construction period so as not to interfere with the upcoming boating season.
