Cape Cod Village is a housing community for adults with autism that will consist of 2 duplex buildings (16 units total) and a “Commons” building with shared recreational and educational amenities. The energy efficient buildings are indented to meet the unique needs of their residents, yet feel like home, with features like accessible bathrooms, common laundry rooms and kitchens, staff rooms, and private bedrooms.
Coastal Engineering Co. provided engineering, regulatory permitting, and construction layout services for the development of this 4-acre site, thoughtfully designing it to have an open, “neighborhood” feel while utilizing green practices, such as a permeable walkway encompassing all of the buildings. One of the parking pockets is designed as a basketball court that doesn’t interfere with traffic. The plans also included stromwater best management practices such as bio-retention basins and native plantings. Another requirement on this project was fire truck routing through the site.
