Coastal Engineering Co. was hired by the Chatham Bars Inn Resort to permit a large beach nourishment project in an extremely tight timeframe – and coordinate the nourishment efforts with both the Town of Chatham and the Barnstable County dredge program for placement of materials, creating a dewatering area and grading to create an artificial dune. The project was designed and the permitting process completed in time for the county dredge to pump dredge material from Aunt Lydia’s Cove directly onto the beach in front of the resort. As part of the project, over 20,000 square feet of beach grass was planted to stabilize the large dune that was constructed as a result of the dredging and beach nourishment.
