Falmouth Academy was founded in 1977 as a small and rigorously academic day school for students in grades 7-12. Operating out of rental properties during its earliest years, the school is currently sited on a 34-acre property next to conservation land and near to the town center.
In 2006, a significant renovation project was undertaken, adding a three-story classroom and library building with state-of-the-art science labs, art rooms, a computer lab, and the Bruce and Patrice Buxton Library. In May 2007, a wind turbine was installed on premises to provide a portion of the school’s electrical needs and supply valuable meteorological data to student scientists.
Today, Falmouth Academy is not only an educational institution but also a community center for meetings, music, art, and environmental activism — earning regional and state awards for its recycling efforts.
