After a major fire gutted this historic structure and converted pedestrian mall on Cape Cod Bay, a new structural design and layout was needed for this mixed-use commercial building. The primary framing system for the building was a structural steel frame with concrete floors on metal form deck. A combination of moment and braced frames were utilized to resist lateral forces due to wind loading, resulting in a structure that is noted for its outstanding and unique configuration. Whaler’s Wharf is now a premier shopping destination in Provincetown.
