The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is the largest independent oceanographic research facility in the world, encompassing 219 acres of waterfront and 58 buildings. The facility is highly sustainable and technologically advanced, with each building tailored to specic user requirements - from bench research space and special cleanroom environments to carefully climate-controlled rooms for equipment calibration and a range of instrument service areas. WHOI has undertaken substantial building renovation and construction projects over the years in order to maintain its expansive campus. Coastal Engineering Company has provided structural engineering evaluations, code reviews, designs, plans, and construction phase services for these construction projects, working with WHOI scientists, architects and builders to evaluate the potential solutions.
