At Brewster Conservation Day last Saturday, Coastal Engineering Company's Registered Sanitarian John Schnaible demonstrated how septic systems work and explained how to keep them functioning properly.
With over 40 unique presentations at 2019 Brewster Conservation Day, the families learned from interactive exhibits on aquaculture, natural plant gardening, and water resources. The kids had a chance to see the shellfish demonstration, Trevor the Juggler, and the AmeriCorps Puppet Show, as well as to learn about our ocean resources, coastal erosion, herring migration, whale rescue, and alternative energy. They enjoyed the blacksmith shop and the windmill, the fishing weir, and some delicious Brewster oysters. Special presentations included aquaculture in Brewster, oyster shucking lessons, and shellfishing experts. Coastal Engineering's Registered Sanitarian John Schnaible had an interactive exhibit of a model septic system.
