Marshall Puffer 40 Under 40 Award Honoree Cape And Plymouth Business

Marshall Puffer, P.E. is the Structural Engineering Division Manager at Coastal Engineering Company (CEC). Marshall’s expertise, aptitude for leadership, and junior staff mentoring have played a critical role in the success and growth of those he serves. Recognizing Marshall’s dedication to the engineering profession, superior client service, and sound business sense, CEC’s ownership group was pleased to welcome him as an Associate Shareholder earlier this year.

As the Structural Engineering Division Manager, Marshall oversees the day-to-day operations of the Structural Division and provides high level structural analysis and design of complex structures of various materials. He also has expertise in construction of building structures in coastal and flood zone areas. His design experience ranges from very large educational structures to assessments in residential structures as well as commercial, municipal, and health care structures.

Marshall’s strong work ethic makes him an exceptional role model to staff engineers. He serves as a mentor to coworkers, generously sharing knowledge, advice, and resources to empower their professional growth. Recently, Marshall helped move CEC's structural division to Building Information Modeling (BIM) with an increase in Revit 3D design services.

Wellfleet native and graduate of Nauset High School, Marshall is currently a resident of Brewster, proud to live and work in the community he grew up in. Marshall finds joy in seeing his designs get built locally. He is especially passionate about moving Cape Cod towards an increase in affordable housing, retail expansion, and updating critical public structures. Over the years, Marshall has led classes at Nauset Regional Middle School via their Summer Program and Career Day, educating students on how engineering as a profession can impact our everyday lives.
