The Massachusetts Coastal Coalition Brings Preventative and Post-Flood Resources Information to the Cape Communities

The panel of experts will cover topics ranging from conducting flood claims to elevating homes at Cape and Islands Association of Realtors, 6-8 pm, April 11, 2018

Flood Outreach

The Massachusetts Coastal Coalition (MCC) has partnered with State Agencies and local experts to bring information about many needed post-disaster resources to our flood damaged Cape communities. This outreach will help stakeholders who sustained damage during our historic winter nor’easters, or others who want more information on flood insurance and what to do to prepare for and clean up after a flooding disaster.


  • Presentation on flood issues after a storm: flood policies overview and conducting flood claims if you have been damaged
  • Introduction to the State NFIP Coordinators office by Joy Duperault, Director of DCR’s Flood Hazard Management Program and State NFIP Coordinator
  • Update from the Shannon Jarbeau, CRS & Floodplain Coordinator for Barnstable County on the status of the Community Rating System on Cape
  • Q&A panel with experts including Sean Riley, PE, CFM, Coastal Engineering Company Civil Division Manager
  • Workshop areas with several stations: community resources, claims, insurance, and elevation certificates

Affected stakeholders from Cape Cod which can include realtors, community officials, affected residents, and more
