At the first annual WaterWORKS event, high school students experienced first-hand the many Blue Economy jobs and career paths available to them through demonstrations, exhibits, interactive displays, and hands-on activities.
Last week, Coastal Engineering participated in WaterWORKS, a hands-on career showcase connecting high school students to Blue Economy and STEM career opportunities in our region. With growth in this sector predicted to continue into the next decade, it is vital we educate our youth on how the blue economy impacts the region they live in. Throughout the day, regional leaders shared updates on legislative action, emerging industries in renewable energy, aquaculture, preservation, and regional economics. Guest speakers like State Senator Susan Moran and Secretary of Economic Development Yvonne Hao, the conference sparked conversations and inspired students to focus on jobs in the blue economy sector.
