On Monday, February 4 Coastal Engineering project managers attended the groundbreaking for construction Cape Cod Village, a residential community for adults with autism that puts their individual needs first and focuses on full participation in the greater community.
Since 2011, a local non-profit has been working to create a “village” on a 4-acre site behind Mid-Cape Home Centers in Orleans, that will provide housing for 15 adults with autism and a Community Resource Center, according to CapeCod.com press release. Residents will be provided with 24 hour supervision in an environment that puts their individual needs first and focuses on full participation in the greater community. “After 8 years of organizing, advocating and fundraising, these concerns have resulted in the creation of Cape Cod Village,” said President Bob Jones.
Coastal Engineering Co. provided engineering and regulatory permitting services for site development, thoughtfully designing the community have an open, “neighborhood” feel and utilizing green practices, such as a permeable walkway encompassing all of the buildings. We are currently providing construction layout services for the project.
